Love & Protect Me

Your jewellery has been made to be enjoyed everyday when worn consciously and taken care of. Please follow our recommendations for ensuring the longevity of your precious pieces.

Everyday Considerations

Everyday wear of your jewellery can lead to a buildup of dirt and residue. We recommend removing your jewellery before washing your hands, showering and applying lotions to maintain the lustre of your pieces.

Limit exposure of your jewellery to chemicals, chlorinated water, perspiration and sulfur containing substances. Where possible, avoid contact with hard surfaces and ensure removal of your jewellery prior to exercising and sleeping to avoid damage and reduce wear and tear. Jewellery should be put on last when dressing and removed first when undressing to maintain the integrity of your settings and finer jewellery pieces.

Caring for Pearls

When it comes to Pearls their lustrous surface can easily be affected by any chemicals, oils, soaps, shampoos, cosmetics, and alkaline environments. As a strict guideline, you should never shower with your pearls on and always wipe them gently after wearing with a soft cloth.

Pearls are not suitable for our Ultrasonic Cleaners. However it's safe to use warm, soapy water for occasional, thorough cleaning.

Storage

All of our Dean & Dust Collection and Bespoke pieces come with pouches or boxes which make the perfect home for your pieces when not being worn.

Store your jewellery individually in the original packaging in a cool, dry place to reduce scratching, tangling and tarnishing.

Cleaning your Dean & Dust Jewellery at Home

Each Dean & Dust collection piece comes with a polishing cloth to be used to renew the shine and lustre of your pieces after normal wear. Your Dean & Dust polishing cloth is made specifically for your fine jewellery and must not be used on lens-wear or plated pieces.

To clean your jewellery at home, either wipe with a lint-free cloth, or use warm water and a gentle brush with a mild soap. Use your Dean & Dust polishing cloth thereafter to shine your pieces. See our Jewellery Care Collection for more items.

Dean & Dust Ultrasonic Cleaner

Alternatively you can purchase one of our Ultrasonic Cleaners, to maintain the sparkle of your precious pieces.

Your jewellery has been made to be worn lovingly, however everyday life can lead to a build-up of dirt and residue on your pieces. The ultrasonic vibration of our cleaner creates microscopic bubbles that loosen and remove contaminates renewing the lustre and shine of your jewellery.

Instructions for use:

Step 1 – Set up your Ultrasonic Jewellery Cleaner on a flat surface. Once this is done: Charge your Ultrasonic Jewellery Cleaner by connecting a Type-C charging cable to a power jack. A red light will appear while charging, once fully charged the light turns off. When the light flashes red, it means the battery is low and needs to be recharged.

Always take your cleaner off charge and make sure that it is unplugged before turning it on for use.

Step 2 - Fill the unit with water from a jug (do not fill directly from a tap, this may cause static charge on the bottom of the cleaner that can damage the unit) to the max line. Add a drop of the cleaning solution provided. Wait for 30 seconds so the solution and water can mix.

Press the power key for 2 seconds to switch on. After the unit starts up, it will operate for 3 minutes then automatically shut down. Press the power key again to continue the cleaning process. The indicator light is blue when in cleaning mode, and red when the unit is off.

The unit will make a dull sound and vibrate, this is the ultrasonic vibrating, not a fault. Place the jewellery items for cleaning on the tray in the bottom of the unit. Leave in solution for the duration of cleaning time (3 minutes). Repeat for another 3 minutes to get the desired clean. You can use a soft toothbrush or cloth to gently rub over any build up or stubborn marks.

When the machine is used many times continuously, the indicator light will flash red. This will cause the unit to enter a cooling mode to avoid damage caused by overheating. The unit will be ready to use again after about 5 minutes.

Step 3 - After cleaning, dry your jewellery off with a soft cloth. Discard the cleaning water solution after every use. Tip water solution away from the charging socket at the opposite end of the unit, never from the side.

Not suitable for use in the Ultrasonic Cleaner:

  • Gem materials with a low hardness rating (e.g. Emerald, Opal, Jade, Coral)
  • Main part of watches (clean metal strap only)
  • Glued or paste gem materials
