Disclaimer:

Please make sure you are entirely happy with your wax mold, this is how it will look as a finished piece. Your wax imprint will be processed for manufacture when exchanged from your hand to ours, at this point no changes can be made. Contact us if you are having any trouble making your print or have any questions. Please ensure you read all of the instructions before beginning the process.

Single Sided Pendant

What you will need before starting:

• Your Sizing Guide Template (Included
• A piece of Greaseproof paper (Included)
• The Jar of wax (Included)
• A Hairdryer

Preparation:

Please make sure your hands and surface are thoroughly clean and dry before beginning to prevent any imperfections in your wax.

Place your greaseproof paper over your sizing guide and on your clean surface before removing your wax.

Choose which finger you will imprint using the centre of your finger print rather than the tip gives you a more detailed imprint.

Wax preparation:

Remove your wax from the jar and in front of a hair dryer work the wax between your fingers. The wax will become soft and malleable. Whilst heating, shape your wax into a ball.

Check your wax doesn't have any seams/cracks in it. Keep heating and rolling until it becomes smooth and even  all the way around. Your wax will harden quite quickly so ensure you are ready for taking the imprint.

Make your mark:

Place your wax in the centre of the circle size that you have selected for your finished piece. (There will be a note on the bottom of your wax jar that specifies this.)

Evenly press your chosen finger onto the wax until it reaches the outer edge of the size template. Gently peel your finger up and off the wax.

Inspect your print. If you are unhappy with your result, you may try again. 

Please make sure you only rest your wax on the clean surface and your hands are clean, dry and free of dust.

Heat your wax again with the hairdryer and roll it back into a ball to repeat the process as many times as needed. Check the wax has no cracks, keep reheating until the cracks are gone and your ball of wax is smooth.

Check your imprint closely, your finished piece will look exactly as the wax so be sure you love It before sending it back to us.

Lastly:

Once your wax has hardened (this should take roughly ten minutes) trim the greaseproof paper so it fits back into the jar.

Be careful not to touch and mark the wax as you handle it. Any imperfections will show up in your finished piece. 

Place the paper enclosed in the jar on top of your wax  and fold (don't scrunch) the remaining offcuts of your greaseproof paper to place on the top of this before closing the lid to prevent movement in the jar. 

Return to us in the pre-paid bag.

 

Double Sided Pendant

Follow the steps 1-2 from above. 

Make your marks :

Gently press the ball of wax between your two fingers at the same time. Press until you have formed the desired imprint. 

Gently remove the wax from your fingers, careful not to drop the wax and making sure not to touch the section of wax where your fingerprints are. 

Inspect both sides of wax to be sure you're happy with the imprint. If you are unhappy with your result, you may try again. 

Please make sure you only rest your wax on the clean surface and your hands are clean, dry and free of dust.

Heat your wax again with the hairdryer and roll it back into a ball to repeat the process as many times as needed. Check the wax has no cracks, keep reheating until the cracks are gone and your ball of wax is smooth.

Check your imprint closely, your finished piece will look exactly as the wax so be sure you love It before sending it back to us.

TIPS 

For best results:

Cleaning your surface and hands before handling and re-handling your wax carefully will ensure a better result.

Ensure your wax is not less than 1mm thick in areas as it may be fragile and break.

Most children under 6-12months are still developing their identifying fingerprint. If creating an imprint with a child under 2 years of age, try using their thumb for a deeper/clearer impression.

If you'd like to make any changes to your piece, specify this on exchange of your wax imprint to us- changes cannot be made once in production. 

If you're not getting the desired result, alternatively you can book an appointment with us in store, where we can assist you with the process. Or a virtual appointment online if you live in another area.

If you purchased your kit in store, please return your wax back to the store for creation.

If you received the kit via the post, you can return your wax imprint back to us via the pre-paid courier bag enclosed. 

 

Ensure your wax is back in the jar. Place it back into the box to protect it, seal the bag and drop it into your local post office or NZ POST courier depot. We have the track and trace no further details are required.
